There Is Time
There Is Time
by: A.F. Spykerman
Feel it burning big and sweet and full of life
Ready to burst like the love bubbles in my brain.
Laying beside you I incline toward a touch
By way of fingertips an accidental brush
Against your hand, against your arm.
Making no difference as long as you abide
Me a smile,
Pretending not to notice
The rabbit like nervousness that I am.
In the now, next to you.
As I feel you glancing over I too do pretend
You’re watching me watch the trees
Sway in the dim dawn’s lighted breeze
A smirk perched on my mouth but I hesitate to speak.
Time to retire the sun seem to say.
Go on your way girl, on your way.
Leave behind the boy at your side.
There’s time, time, time.
Moving now to rise - the wind flowing my dress
I pause to first lean into you
Because an embrace can say the rest.
The sneaking soft shoulder kiss I return with pleasure
And tarry for some tiny time
Delicately hovering above you.
You are so warm beneath me
I fancy your heated strength and everything between.
And in this moment just before I leave to walk
Into flight go the butterflies they sing about in songs.
It’s leaving time the sun seems to say
Go on your way girl, on your way.
Leave behind the boy at your side.
There’s time, time, time.
